STORAGE:

Store in a cool, dark place.

COMPOSITION:

Each ml contains 200 mg elemental iron in the form of gleptoferron and 0,5 % phenol Ph. Eur. as preservative.

INDICATIONS FOR USE:

Gleptosil^® is indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in piglets.  Piglets born and reared under intensive conditions are deficient in iron and rapidly become anaemic.  Unless they receive supplemental iron early in life they are prone to suffer decreased vitality, poorer growth rates and increased susceptibility to disease.

WARNINGS:

Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.

Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:  Use only as directed.

DOSAGE:  

For prevention of iron defficiency anaemia:  1 mℓ (200 mg iron) injected intramuscularly in piglets from 3 – 7 days of age.

Should management practices require it, piglets of 1 to 3 days old may be injected. 

In cases of diagnosed iron deficiency, the treatment is 1 mℓ (200 mg iron) injected intramuscularly.

AUTOMATIC SYRINGE

The use of automatic syringe equipment is advocated.

ADMINISTRATION:

Use of automatic syringe equipment is advocated.

Gleptosil^® is recommended for administration by intramuscular injection in the neck, just below the ear.  The site of injection should be clean, ideally swabbed with cottonwool soaked in surgical spirits.  Excess spirits should be removed before injecting.  The syringe and needles should be sterilized by boiling before use, and the rubber seal of the vial swabbed with cottonwool soaked in surgical spirits.

Do not open sachet until Gleptosil^® is required for use.

Once opened use contents within 28 days.

PRESENTATION:

Gleptosil^® is available in 100 mℓ collapsible plastic vials.   The vial is contained within a sachet which should not be opened until required for use.
